So when I read certain things, my brain reads it as something else
For example; I’ll go in the fridge and see the butter but my mind will read it as poison, does this happen to anyone else? Is it a normal symptom??

I get it occasionally , it’s usually a combination of positive and negative however. Funnily, it reminds me of the scene in ‘They Live’, where something similar happen.
Like for example, I just read the word transfer as trespass on an article about the space station.
It happens to me
It is ugly symptoms
Not this this extent, but occasionally I will glance over some word and my subconscious mind will read it as something else.
It happened with my meds. I stopped taking them because it said it was a different med that I wasn’t taking anymore. I thought the pharmacy messed up. Looked at several times then one day it dais something else.
I have two things that are like this.
First, I am likely dyslexic, so I will occasionally add words, substitute words, misread words etc. But usually I wrongly read it as something that is similar to what is actually there.
Next, sometimes I really misread things, like I thought the sign at the pool said something about suicide. I saw that word there, but really it was talking about not swimming without a lifeguard present. I think these are my symptoms showing up, but who knows. My brain is a tangled mass of different conditions
I have had this occasionally where I substitute one word for another. It is disconcerting.
It can also occur in writing.
Recently I wrote to a friend and said “I hope you do die” but I meant “don’t die.” It was a typographical error.
