Read about a mother who said she had to come to terms with the fact that she gave her daughter CF

I have never thought of it that way.

what could we say, who gave us schizophrenia?

Some parents feel guilty when their kids end up with genetic conditions and they turned out to be carriers. I think that is unfair to the parent and to the child. After all, most parents aren’t even aware they are carriers for genetic conditions. And even if they are, there’s no guarantee their child will have it.

plus doctors told us Beth’s genotype, the one rare one,
comes mostly from Canada.
I don’t know any history of family being from Canada.
but it’s pretty cool that they can map that now.

He was adopted.

My psych told me my ADs were safe to take during pregnancy. My son is autistic and I often wonder.

I wasn’t on psych meds during pregnancy, quit smoking, and absolutely no beer drinking.
they can’t apply that to you, about your son, why is it such a prevalent thing now? and these women didn’t take pills, likely, but I’m not sure.

No they didn’t say it was my fault but I personally wonder if the ADs didn’t play a part.

I was worried about dental care during pregnancy.

doctor swore the baby wouldn’t be affected. at that time, I didn’t know I was carrying two.

I think people should think more before they have kids other than “I’m old enough or I’m bored” especially if you have a serious medical condition that can be passed genetically, you might fulfill your dream of being a parent but you’re potentially ruining someone’s life.
I think everyone should be altered at birth and should have to go through years of training and psych evals before they can have kids.

nah, life is just life.

I put way too much thought into what I should do,
and I believe I did the right thing.

She gave her daughter CauliFlower?

I saw firsthand a baby going through SSRI withdrawals in the NICU at the hospital during my clinicals. It was horrific the poor baby was suffering so much, constantly shaking and screaming for days on end. And yet they are supposedly “safe” according to doctors. When I get pregnant I’m coming off all my psych meds I don’t care what they say is safe.

My coworker fostered a baby born addicted to drugs. They gave the baby medicine to keep the withdrawal symptoms down. I guess they were sposed to ween the baby off the medicine.

What is CF?

cystic fibrosis. genetic condition from in utero, and birth, and all life, til a cure.
affects about every organ, but typcially the killer is the lungs,
no chloride water washing thru, sticky mucus cutting off airways,

plus mutliple infections that are specific to Cf, much more serious.

my daugher is good tho, and a new med is improving all lives of the CFer and longer life.
