Rats! No Cats!

So we have a resident rat.

Funny story. Been feeding it ratsak for a couple of nights and it seems to be eating it. Thing still has some legs so not sure how long it takes to take care of the thing. Anyways. Was sitting on the throne this morning doing my business and this frigging rat comes under the door and runs right by me! Like I was freaked out a bit but what do you do. Kinda half way through so just carried on…

Meanwhile I investigate and there’s a hole near one of the inlet pipes. The rat has chewed through the plasterboard and made the hole bigger. I patched it today but honestly…You don’t want to see a rat when your half way through a dump  …I suggested we go out and get a cat but dad will not play fairly! That is my story from today!

If you’ve been feeding it for a couple of days, why are you surprised when he shows up?

Yeah fair cop but Ratsak is rat poison. Bloody thing was running hard when it passed me this morning! I’d rather a mature cat. Bloody thing is like 5 or more inches long and came under the door which is like a 3/4 inch gap…never knew rats could be so elastic.

Can I borrow your cat @shutterbug ? Not sure how this one got in but plugging holes and can’t find it. Old house but it’s brick veneer so not sure where the entrance is but will keep going till I find it!

Caliope would be handy at the moment!

Rats are a pain in the ass lol, we had a massive nest of them (or two) in the garden next door and they spilled out into our garden, we had 4 of them eating at our birdfeeder and so we got pest control who put poison down, I heard the poison can take a week to work though. I think he got most of them anyway.

We sometimes get rats in the group home. I service user always put bread out for the birds which the rats love.

We have rats and mice. I keep trapping them but I have someone coming on Monday to try to figure out how they are getting in. The wife is freaked out about them. They have even made it to the pantry.

Charles is afraid to fly and Tigger would make friends with the rat.

It is funny when Charles catches a mouse. He gives a war cry. :heart_eyes_cat:

I’m thinking about going to petco and getting a couple of rats

I have one…may have more! Trade for felines or ferrets to prevent previous

You don’t want a cat while you’re feeding rats poison. If they’re eating it and a cat eats them, it will die.

Yeah wouldn’t use poison if we had felines. Dad isn’t a fan of cats so won’t allow me to get another one or two rescues. Seems the rat is still eating the bait…not sure how long it goes on but this rat is living the life!

I’ve never seen rats or mice in Alaska, but we have voles. They look like mice without a tail. Last summer my dog caught one and popped it like a zit! That was extremely messy…voles don’t seem to care for indoor living, I always see them outside, never inside.

Thankfully my place doesn’t have a rat or mice problem. My dads old house had neighbors that brought giant sewer rats. They also had chickens that they didn’t care for very well that caused an awful stink. Probably also attracted the rats. Glad my dad doesn’t live there anymore.

Hopefully your rat problem abates soon Rogue.

We have a good amount of stray cats that go from yard to yard in our neighbourhood. No rats or mice by me.
