Hello citizens, I met with my psychiatrist and I’m tapering off resperidone from 75mg depot a month to 1mg of resperidone!! Had many side effects while tapering off but I manage it. Planning to quit escitalopram on spring. I’m also working 46 hours a week! Never thought I could have a quick recovery (That’s 3,5 years). My psychiatrist believe I can go without any medication and I have been diagnosed with paranoid sz. Any advice for me??
That’s great. Be careful. If you see even a small symptom, call your pdoc
I wonder if it will work going off meds idk
Have a plan for when you relapse. Numbers to call etc.
Yeah I was going to say.
Make sure that you have a crisis plan set up.
I’m also 6 months in. 2 weeks into 1mg before sleep. Next step is to quit completely in few weeks. Actually my psychiatrist even offered to do cold turkey before that…
Do you stay away from caffeine?
Good luck. You may be one of the lucky few who belongs to the subset where symptoms vanish after the initial outbreak. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Glad you’re doing this with medical supervision.
Thank you!! I always look after myself, no drugs just few cigs and coffees. Don’t drink alcohol or smoke bud. Getting enough sleep and keeping myself occupied from thoughts. I always carry a clonazepam tablet with me in case of anxiety attack. Just my life can be stressful as I live alone and fully support myself
Wow, what an opportunity! Proceed cautiously and have a back up plan Incase something happens.
Best of luck to you, I want to do this too someday when I’m ready.
wow lucky i wish i could get off meds i guess i have to wait 3 more years=/
I also quit AP like 2 months ago, still on citalopram (10mg)
I quit all AP’s almost a year and a half ago. For me, it was the best thing for me. I am still on an antidepressant and I keep high blood pressure pills on me in case I have an attack.
You should definitely have a plan in case you relapse. Even though you taper you may still have withdrawl issues. It took me about a year to get all the meds out of my system but in the end it was definitely worth it.
One thing I found that helps is to nip a panic attack in the butt before it fully evolves. If my heart starts racing or if I get sensitive to light, I usually just take my high blood pressure medicine. If I get it calmed down before it goes major, I end up being fine and not having it drag on.
Good luck to you!
