Has anyone had to change dosage on medication after quit smoking? If so can you tell me what you took while smoking and what you took after quitting?
Gee, I stopped smoking greater than 18 months ago and there’s been no change. Is someone asleep at the switch?
J.
De Leon[14] recommended an average dosage-correction factor of 1.5 for clozapine and olanzapine in smokers. For example, if a patient is taking clozapine and starts smoking, the clozapine dosage may need to be increased by 1.5 within two to four weeks.[14] Clozapine levels should be monitored in this situation or if the patient quits smoking.
Smoking affects some meds, and not others.
Wow! Thanks for the info. I haven’t read the article on Medscape yet, but I will. My son is taking olanzapine, lithium and Prozac. It would be great if I could find a table like that for all of his meds.
My pharmacist looked it up and told me that olanzapine takes one week to get to steady state after abruptly quitting. So you should ask your doctor.
