Is it better to just leave your desktop computer running the whole time…or should I shut it off after each use?
My brothers tell me they always leave their computer on. And lately I’ve been doing that as well.

Yeah, I want to know too.
I always leave mine on because I used it so often. If I’m not using it for several hours I turn it off. It doesn’t need to be turned off, but I do it to save electricity.
I turn it off because it collects more dust in fans and for noise reasons.
I leave my laptop on pretty much 24/7 so that Windows 10 can automatically update and restart when I am not using it.
However, a desktop computer would have a 400W-1200W power supply with a CPU that could drain 35W to 165W.
My pc is on 24/7. Simply because i download alot - and often i run them overnight. Yeah it does get dusty quicker - but i got spare fans to fit and plenty of air duster - so i just give it a good clean out every couple of months.
Its also used for all my tv streaming (i dont have a traditional aerial socket) so its easier just to leave it on.
I noticed the ventilation on my laptop makes noises. I got it for over 10 years. I always shut it down. I can’t effort a new one. I had to bring to repair twice so far cause i had deadly viruses. When you leave it on i guess its more vulnerable.
Although I wouldn’t say it was necessarily a bad thing, computers can use a lot of electricity so it would be best to turn it off if you feel like saving the planet, and your electricity bill at the same time.
I run mine from sunup to late night. I never turn on and off and I’ve never had a problem with my pc. Well I’ve had some aio’s fail on me but I always leave mine on.
The newest and greatest PC parts are pretty silent and fan…quiet (fantastic)
My 10+ year old PC case is much louder
More often than not, my PC(s) are on… but I do turn them off now and then. Stability for windows has been amazing since Windows NT
