One thing I was never good at at school was writing a precis. It was hard to remove the wheat from the chaff. I’m not much different today. The more information there is the greater the tendency to be over-inclusive. I’d guess for many of us the ability to separate the relevant from the irrelevant isn’t always easy. The loose associations we can make can straddle the boundary between highly creative and divergent thinking and the nonsensical speech indicative of a psychotic state of mind.
Were you psychotic as a child?
Very different, but I don’t think I was psychotic. It was something I found interesting re my later becoming severely mentally ill.
