I grew up with black & white TVās that didnāt come with remotes, no cable channels were in existence and there were only about 10 channels. I remember watching the landing on the moon āliveā as it was really happening. When I was about two or three, an actual nuclear war came within a hair of happening when the Russians tried to station nuclear weapons in Cuba. Kennedy barely got us out of that war, but it was probably the closest the world came to a nuclear World War in history. Anyways, Iām 55 years old and still kickān.
We only had three channels where I grew up. Until we moved to near St. Louis, then we had five. When I was in the third grade was when the Cuba missile crisis occurred. We were living near the largest submarine base in the world. So in school they taught us, if we see a bright light in the distance to duck under are desks and cover are heads. They forgot to tell us the part about kissing are ass goodbye.
During the first moon landing. My parents were away and I was staying with one of there friends. I was glad because they had color tv and I got to see the moon landing in color.
We are getting old. But Iām like fine wine. I get better with age.
Oh, I remember the āhide under your deskā drill. it saved countless lives, right, lol ? I also remember earthquake drills. I also remember saying the āPledge of Allegianceā every morning and the teachers leading us in a chorus of āGod Bless Americaā afterwards every morning.
Im 3 1/2 years oldā¦
I thought you were much older. I could have sworn that you were 5.
