I’ve worked less than a year total I think.
I have been continuously employed or self-employed since 1996, mostly full-time. Sometimes full-time and part-time at the same time.

I managed 2 and half years in a restaurant, but I was unmedicated for the last 6 months. I was also on modafinil during those two years but the eventual psychotic break made me never use modafinil again

After my first psychosis I was only able to work for 7 months full-time. During that time I didn’t have voices and didn’t take meds but I relapsed.
i took my vote off since i didn’t work anymore after dx. I tried to go back to work after my first time in the psych ward but then work send me to the work dr and he send me to a pdoc and he decided i shouldn’t work anymore.
I worked for my design firm for residential design almost eight years.

I made it a month cleaning hotel rooms. I’ve had three jobs since diagnosis.

overnight over a year
I worked for medicaid for about a month and a half before crapping out from insomnia, voices, and anxiety.
I worked even when i was floridly psychotic, wasnt the best of times thats for sure. Atleast nothing bad happened during it. The first time i didnt even really know what i was dealing with.

Before schizophrenia I had about 14 different jobs and didn’t last more than three months at any of them. After I got diagnosed at age 19 in 1980 I’ve had about another 15 jobs and I’ve been at any current janitor job for 13 years.

I was at my last job two years. I would’ve stayed there longer if they paid more. They weren’t fair about that.
I had a great job that I loved. I got to travel every so often, and it was just so exciting. I just couldn’t do it physically or mentally.
