I live with my parents since I do not have a job and am not in a right state of mind to be living out in some shady place on housing benefits (been there tried that). I hope to find a job starting from December and move out next year if all goes, to plan. I do contribute a bit towards the rent and buy my own food.

Rent where I live for a studio in a bad area is $1000 a month on average and the waiting list for government housing has been closed for years. I lived on my own until a head injury, and now sz, I live with my mom.

I live on my own but it’s only because it’s a government subsidized apartment.

I chalk my luck up to my area. This is a great city to live in if you have a disability or mi.

With my part-time job and SSDI I can afford to live in a small apartment. I can’t figure out this neighborhood. The next door neighbor called it a ghetto but it doesn’t seem that bad to me.

Though from the looks of many of the people walking around I would never be friends with them. But hell, I haven’t seen any crime. No one has touched my car or me in three years.

No I’m dependant on my husband as I don’t have a job or enough money. If it weren’t for him I’d be homeless - unless I live with my parents or sister, who are all financially struggling

I wish I was more independent!

That’s kind of how I feel about where I live. The guy behind me is disabled too. Everything is pretty cheap where o live too. Like, even food. I pay $.99 for a gallon on milk, $.99 for a dozen jumbo eggs. Housing is cheap/my handyman is more than reasonable imo.

What do you like so much about where you live? Why is it good for disabled or MI?

I can’t afford to live on my own, but I haven’t tried any government subsidized housing yet so that may be an option. I do pay some rent to live with my folks, and I try to budget as if I were living on my own. I am very frugal.

Hi Mike. My city is good for the mi because there’s a lot of agencies and state funding here to help schizophrenics get back on their feet.

A lot of the youth are very educated about mi, too.

Our police force even has mental health training.

Like your city housing and food is very well priced here, too.
