Poll: Anxiety or feeling dumbed down? Which would you take?

I have a choice. Feeling anxiety or feeling dumbed down. What would you choose

  • Worse cognitive function , no anxiety
  • Anxiety , better cognitive function

Basically Beta-Alaine completely got rid of my anxiety but my cognitive functioning took a hit.

Omg what a question!

I answered anxiety with better cognitive function because I hate feeling so dumb at work. It really makes me feel bad about myself now that I’m the slow one.

I’d rather be mentally slow and comfortable. There’s wisdom in not talking too much, and thinking before you talk.

I’d rather have neither… Wish you full health and recovery!

I’d rather have no anxiety. So I chose feeling dumbed down. Anxiety is torturous.

Hands down would rather be anxious than dumb.

I chose “stop taking Beta-Alaine.”

I did and now I’m not dumbed down but I have anxiety. I was just wondering what others thought was worse/best as I’m not sure!

@everhopeful

I thought the L-theanine was helping your anxiety?

It makes it bareable/managable. But beta alaine got rid of it completely.

I think it depends on the person a lot. I put a LOT of my self worth in my intelligence. So being dumb for me is killer for my self esteem and quality of life. But I’m already anxious all the time and get along well enough. It’s a lot easier (for me) to learn to cope with anxiety than not be able to hold a conversation.

Do you think the anxiety is from Abilify?

About 70% of it is from abilify. I had anxiety on seroquel too but it wasn’t unbearable. I have no choice but to stick with abilify.

Have you told your pdoc about the anxiety? Did you increase your dose from 10 mg to 20 mg?

I wouldn’t be asking all of these questions if I didn’t care about you. You’ve been taking a lot of supplements over the last 6 months, some at high doses, so I’m worried.

I would talk to pdoc about anxiety before buying another supplement.

I spoke to them. The choice was either cloneazepam(a benzo) or something else I can’t remember the name of (it was a long while ago). But the something else had a nasty side effect profile so I turned it down.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve been doing ok on L-theanine. It saved my bacon and allowed me to tolerate abilify.

It’s just quite an experience to not have ANY anxiety.

@everhopeful I remember you saying you did not want to try Phenibut because it’s not FDA approved. I ordered a bottle and I will cycle it and report on how it goes. How are you doing on Taurine?

@everhopeful

I think it’s normal to have some anxiety.

Full disclosure: I have an anxiety disorder. I do take clonazepam, 2mg/day, so I know how debilitating anxiety is.

I really hope that you do find a supplement that helps with your anxiety. It’s an unregulated industry, that’s my concern.
