Good Drugs (Episode 2): ARISTADA (aripiprazole lauroxil) (Schizophrenia)
I am on it and it’s a miracle!
I am not sure why physicians still use typical antipsychotics while technology is around
This is very misfortunate that they put me on haloperidol and didnt monitor me too until I started to talk about the horrible side effects and that is why I am given this med!
I really want them stop administering first generation antipsychotics!
We are given 1 life only and they waste our precious lives
People are different and there’s many who do better on older typicals. Hopefully newer medications will help more but not everyone is the same.
There are still people out there who they work better for. Also, a lot of people need to be started on first generation and then moved to second once they’ve been stabilized somewhat. I was one of the second group.
Yes but I was in a horrible hospital and they didnt monitor me while giving me haloperidol and I had no other choice than taking it they made me either take pills or gave me injection by pressure, it was a terrible experience, atleast they had to watch me
I understand, I am not sure what they did to me exactly the doctor there never explained anything to me, but for taking this med you dont need to be on anything else than abilify too
Oh, they tried me on Abilify around 2015. My nickname for it is Disabilify. It didn’t go well.
Yeah, that’s because you were in a horrible hospital. Some people need to be on medication. I don’t know if it’s ethical but some people have to be either forced or “convinced” to take medication when they don’t want to be. I did not want to take meds in the long term hospital but I was “convinced” to. It all worked out and it was the best thing for me. I’m sorry you went through that experience but prescribing medication is far from an exact science. Mistakes are made. I’m not excusing any horrible treatment you got but doctor error is extremely common in both physical and mental health. It’s not OK at all but it happens frequently.
I am on typical and atypical meds for around 16 yrs and I struggled each and every day of my life, now I am doing my PhD but I was about returning to my country if I was again on wrong meds after so many yrs efforts…. That is very sad. On the other hand I was lucky that I had very bad side effects this time because i learned about this new med but my whole life I struggled so much. Now I am not at all dizzy and much more alert and smarter but those meds during yrs have made me very strong and hard working
Why? But injection is different did you listen to the video?
No idea, I’m not a doctor.
I don’t think that was available initially, at least not the solution. It was the powder mixed with water. They’ve since moved me to Geodon and I’m doing extremely well on it. No need to try other meds at this time.
No dizziness or drowsiness now on geodon?
But when its very likely that you experience side effects they should monitor you considering I was experiencing schizophrenia episodes I thought somebody is agonizing me I didnt know its side effects no internet access even not a book there. The doctors had to watch me they did a terrible job.
On Geodon? Not especially. Abilify gave me cramping, stiffness, made me tremble, made it hard for me to speak, and I would wake up with a soaked pillow from the horrendous drooling.
