Hi all , wondering if anyone can offer any advice, I’m in the UK so don’t know if that makes any difference.
My sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1996 since then doctors have removed that wording and said she has physcotic episodes. One doctor some years ago stopped her meds which was a disaster, we told hi. It would be but they didn’t listen. I now hear the physiatrist wants to ween her off again. How do I prevent this from happening? I haven’t been that closely involved before but my mum died 3 weeks Ago and I need to step in and take some pressure off my 85 year old dad. Any advice would be very welcome . Thank you .
that’s unusual to ehar the doc wants to wean her off meds. what is his thinking behind it. Does he not believe she has schizophrenia. In any case, your sister might do better off the meds as the meds have side effects.
Meds can have really bad side effects. You probably don´t even imagine how it is like, so dont blame her.
But they should be careful also and wean her off slowly if they decide so.
You could try an atypical med., if that’s not what she is on now.
