Perception is hell

I live in a big city as some of you might know. The driving can be terrible here. I don’t just stick to this city, I venture all over the valley. But I can’t avoid driving downtown. Sometimes it’s OK but most of the time it’s hectic and stress inducing. It’s usually crowded with people and cars and buses and the light rail. I had a couple of good drives where I enjoyed seeing the architecture and watching people and just going with the flow. Anyway, it’s not all bad but it sure is frustrating.

I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with traffic anymore.

No response to obvious people problems makes it stop a bit…(Sometimes I’m told something helpful by local’s chatter anyway in the guided conversations/thought broadcast.) I’m a big girl so I don’t get a lot of other attention except by the desperately crazy males but can be VERY hostile situation with some of these & cities with bad scams. Not good when women have to say they are HIV to get the users to leave us alone. Some women could be threatened badly or worse for remaining in poor neighborhoods alone except for Grandma Moses but she usually has all the kids/grands/relationships along.

I know some of the wrecks sometimes have more involved but if you drive fast anyway, it’s harder to be a target…If you just fly along and not worry, can be decent. I have decent reflexes anyway, slow movers (Grandma drivers) are easier targets anyway. But you are right, I do avoid even going into city during rush hours and offer to work different schedule to avoid it if I have to…Currently not working, volunteer internship employer (event place doing NA/AA) was doing induced psychosis and is my second case of crazy and hearing two things so had to take some time off for a while. Have not found another good fitting job since lots wanting to pay you $10 for 2-3 hours of work at the workload they want. I’m too slow yet…Can do better in another kind of work, the writing thing can be tough so better off in facebook or layouts.

i live in the countryside… :deciduous_tree:
we had a tiny roundabout put in at the local town…it caused a wee bit of confusion !?!
the big town has two traffic lights :vertical_traffic_light: !?!
that is an out of this world experience… :flushed:
take care :alien:

Yeah no doubt extremely frustrating. Used to listen to classical music in attempts to remain calm although there is a great song by the offspring…tried reading at stop lights also, and writing poems at one point as I drove each day the city was the womb and it was as if I were being expelled, the city is alive and each day I had to make the drive back into that same womb

I don’t mind driving down I-80 to 880 to san Jose, It’s only about an hour and 20 minutes from where I live. I do it a few times a year.
It’s the commute traffic that I can’t stand.
Once it took 3 hours in stop and go traffic, to go Oakland- one way!
Normally it’s only 40 minutes.

Yeah, my commute is from San Jose to Mountain View and back. It took me an hour and 15 minutes to get home yesterday through bumper to bumper traffic, on 101.

Argh! Don’t know how you do it @77nick77, you must have nerves of steel, I couldn’t do it without imploading from all the stupidness of the other drivers.
Wow, you are super strong in my book.:blue_car::taxi::red_car:

I don’t know how I did it either. But I had to get home. I admit that I flipped off one guy and then a lady from frustration. But I have a nice stereo in my car and that helped.

i live in a small town, and I don’t drive. neither does my partner, but she wants to learn but the stress seems to be too much for her mom and her dad just doesn’t want to do it.
