That includes:
Dentists
Chiropractors (especially those guys)
Optometrist.
People who have obtained a PhD.
Is misleading when someone introduces themselves as Dr. Soandso and you find out they’re a minister or something.
I agree that those people worked hard for their education, and deserve recognition.
But they are not medical doctors and that’s what the title implies.
This has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time.

Yea ppl with PhD’s are called Dr. Its confusing.
Surgeons are considered doctors as well as psychiatrists.
Dentists and optometrists are not considered doctors because the teeth and eyes are considered a special type of human organ.

Optometrists dont have a medical degree. Ophtalmologists have a medical degree. Maybe only those with a medical degree should be called a Dr.

I called my dogs vet Doctor.
It must have made her feel real important 
I am curious to know if those medical professional who hold a medical degree are permitted to prescribe medication which would be one reason why they are called doctors.

Even they are more a doctor than a chiropractor.
Chiropractors can’t prescribe anything.
They can recommend treatments, but that’s it.
I don’t think its a big deal.
PhD = Philosophy Doctorate
MD = Medical Doctor
Why people get angry about this or confused is beyond me. It just means your highly educated in your field. There are plenty of words that have double meanings, they are called Homonyms. If someone has a PhD I know they are not an MD and vice versa, but they are both doctors, it’s not hard to comprehend.

I never addressed him as doctor, that’s why we got in a fight.
My kinesiology teacher name was Dr… At first I thought he was a medical Dr and was teaching physiotherapy. Ended up seeing he had a PhD, not MD. But I had another teacher who was an actual MD Dr.
I had to call my piece of shitt PhD therapist doctor.
She was an unworthy human being who didn’t deserve that title.

I don’t mind calling a veterinarian a doctor though. They take care of some friends of mine that are worth far more than several people I know.

Tbh, half the reason im going for my phd is because I want to be called doctor so people stop asking if I’m a miss or a mister.
