I do not participate in “man made/paganistic” holidays for many reasons. A lot has to do with my beliefs and no I am NOT RELIGOUS. However, I get extremely paranoid/upset/agitated on holidays…
I feel like the government is forcing us to participate in these things that they have made up and labeled against our own will. They close jobs, schools, banks,etc; limiting our actions and abilities on that day…
For example Thanksgiving… seems to me like the government wants us all at home 
stuffed and sleepy 
from eating turkey 
so they can initiate their attack on us, maybe come in and take our guns 
lol not those guns silly these guns 
… Christmas they want us broke for buying BS so they can violate us in some sort of way. Easter 
we will be to busy Looking for this RABBIT 
that lays 
eggs !!! Help me cope with this

So little disclaimer before I write this, I may end up saying totally the wrong thing. So if you have to, just say “you’re totally F’ed in the head!” and that’d be cool. Ok? Here goes…
I think your suspicions of what the government is doing with holidays is a bit far reaching. Here is why (imo)!
Most holiday events have been around for many centuries, or atleast a good number of decades, if not, then a similar but different holiday took place way back, like way way back.
Also it is more big companies trying to make as much money as possible by having these events. People feel less guilt spending money when it’s, say, black friday.
The major not-so-popular thing is this (imo)… whether it be holidays, cars, working 9 to 5, having credit cards, or owning a house its all about you becoming part of the machine (read the book: the machine, easily available at your local thrift store). Why would they want to harm us? When we willingly do everything they could possibly want already. It’s bred into us since birth to go to school, accept it as fact (not saying algebra isn’t a fact, I’m just saying kids don’t know why, they don’t ask WHY, ie: applying the scientific method!), then go on to college, same sht, or maybe you go straight to work. Either way, why are you doing this? So you can own a car, a house, and every possible extra you can afford with the money you earned doing sht that doesn’t really matter that consumes your life. I mean sh*t people…most retired peoples are so wired to live in this man made, artificial way of life that they don’t even know how to live day to day without there stupid ■■■■■■■ job.
I could go on. But the point is, they aren’t going to hurt you in some medieval way. They just want you to play the game. Like my brother told me when I was 16, you either follow in line or you go live in the ■■■■■■■ mountains. Evil is smart, it’s methodical, and all you can do is hope they pay you no mind.

Yes, back to these Holidays that yes, have been around for SO many years. Most Folks don’t even know why they celebrate or what’s the meaning for the Holiday. I’m always asked “Why don’t you celebrate Holidays?” That is their favorite question. My answer was “Well, why do you?” Of course they give me the deer in the headlights look and normally say things like “Because of Jesus.” Right!!!, Christmas is ALL about this man named Jesus. (Whose name couldn’t have been Jesus because there was NO J in the Hebrew alphabet, no way he could have been born in December, not saying that he isn’t real because he def existed but HIStory gets twisted more and more .:.

I’m an agnostic, but I like Christmas. My favorite Christmas movie is “A Christmas Carol”. It never fails to give me the Christmas spirit. I tip extra heavy during the Christmas season. If you decide that Christmas is more about giving than receiving you have a better perspective on it.
