Paperflowers Poems

Mere Fantasy
11/7

Once upon a time, I could
prove my thoughts had worth.
back when sublime
true CAP at birth.

Now the earth is hollow
My mind is depleted
all my little thoughts side-lined
pills have me defeated.

Chemical oblivion
delusions plastered path
I’ll live like a poet, untethered
and die without a casket.

Tarred and feathered, battered and scorned
A freak for all to shame a narrow mind to game
For the illusion’s girth between us
Between worlds at length to blame.

Not because of the libelous labels
Because I dare break the mold, curiously.
and scream that I was well and better than
when they wanted me out cold, like some
wasteful sold realty.

And as my resilience solidified
So did grow, an addled retired shame.
And so they burned me and all
I became was the one on pyre
the empire burned through I remained
The pretty faulted flame.
