Panic attack on Highway/feeling trapped/agoraphobia

This upcoming Tuesday, my moms husband and I have to make a 80 minute drive, on the highway. Im scared im going to have a panic attack on the highway and feel trapped.

I don’t drive btw, my moms husband is doing the driving. Im just scared im going to have a massive panic attack and cause a scene in the car. What if my panic attack gets so severe I have a heart attack?

Anyone have any tips?

Bringing headphones maybe can help? Maybe you can spend $15 or so on YouTube premium or Spotify and download a bunch of funny videos for the ride or an audiobook. Spotify has audiobooks included in premium now.

I’m gonna take ativan before the drive.

Wear a sleep mask and put on headphones to listen to calming music. Wear a neck pillow and get comfy.

Thanks for the advice @POET & @sweetpotatopie

That is so incredibly rare. Common for you to feel like it is a heart attack, close to unheard of that it actually becomes one.

Plan calming exercises and take distractions with you. I like calming music like Enya or classical. I also colour in adult colouring books when I need to wind myself back down. A clipboard, a few printed pages, and a pack of cheap crayons or pencil crayons (with sharpener) can be a godsend.
