I find myself being quite overbearing and in need of backing off. I think being overbearing is an attempt to cover something one considers unacceptable.

The only thing wrong with that is that I have a problem with the name “Mary”.

I think you’re right, chordy. I was watching the play “Hamlet” where he is telling all these professional actors how to speak their lines. He is being very overbearing, and it is probably because he believes his father has been murdered.
Then you are just being too hard on yourself!
Misdirected energy. Be overbearing on your positive passions and your personal goals.

When someone overbearing starts telling me what to do, I want to do just the opposite. Like they’re trying to kill me with positivism.

I know exactly what you mean, chordy. I don’t like being ordered around anymore after being ordered so much in the military. I tend to sort of shut down on peoples orders now. Even my GF sometimes, I need to snap out of that sorta though and understand that they just want me to stay on top of things.
