One of the nurses at daycenter I attend says I shouldn't get acquainted with the down and outs in town

We have this women who sporadically attends the day centre and she hangs around with the homeless and druggies around town, this is a small town and I see them all the time loitering around. I don’t have anything to do with them. He says I should keep my distance from this women in the community and don’t get introduced to her friends as once they find out I’m a vulnerable adult they will continue to target me and always ask for money and cigarettes.

I think this is good advice. Also if I get acquainted with them they will introduce me to drugs and street drinking and I don’t want a ruined my reputation.

I had a lot of homeless people ask me for money when I was at a local Tim Horton’s.

Your treatment team is right- it’s good to stay away from those who will expose you to drugs and drinking.

Yes, staying away from them is the smart thing to do.

You’re lucky to have a day center open, they are closed in my area. I went for a walk today and sat in the park. It helped a lot!

Yes your nurse and you are both right. Stay away from the riff raff.

I used to be one of the down and outs

Always good to steer clear of people who will drag you down and exploit you.
