One of the best times in my life, and one of my worst times

It had been about 2 years since my diagnosis of schizophrenia, I was very determined to make it without medication at that time, and had been ever since I first got my first psychosis in 2018.

I was going to this recovery center for mental health that was out in the country, and the plan was to stay there for 6 months, it was close to nature, with very beautiful surroundings. And the center was just by a lake too.

I was at the place for 3 months. Episodes of psychosis which I had before had really made my brain slow, but I noticed that being at that place healed my brain. After a couple of months I could think very fast again and formulate sentences very easily.

I met some friends there too. Anyway, being at that place was one of the best times I’ve had in life. Unfortunately after being there for some months I got psychotic, started believing I was god (although I wasn’t 100% convinced), and believed I could communicate with people around the world by thought.

I was sent to the hospital, and they put me on forced medication. The reason being that I had been to the hospital a lot of times and had a history of not wanting to take medication.

I was put on zyprexa, got akathisia that went away after about a month, but soon after I got another side effect - I got very stressed from the meds. A couple of months after being hospitalized and put on medication I was sent (was my choice) to another place.

And being at that other place with the stressfull side effect of the meds was pretty horrible. So that was one of the worst times in my life.

About 8 months later I started moving into an apartment (where I live now), I learned that omega 3 helped a lot with the stress from the medication (almost removing it completely), and I also learned that I may have to stay on medication.

Thanks for reading. And what I learned by typing this is that something has definitely happened to my cognition because I’m much worse in english and formulating sentences than I used to be. I had to constantly look up words (whereas I used to be very good in english)
