Nutrition: What do you eat?

I hate to cook so I end up buying a lot foods that don’t need much preparation. Sandwiches, take out, chips, cottage cheese, yogurt. What I do cook consists of stuff like mac 'n cheese, tater tots, pizza. I eat lots of very unhealthy foods.

Today I went to the grocery store and bought stuff for salad. I made a pretty nice one from a pre-made bag of salad, some pre-sliced mushrooms, and some grape tomatoes. I didn’t have to cook and preparation was just tossing it all in a bowl. I really like salad. Even with a lot of dressing it is much healthier than the stuff I normally eat. I should eat more of it.

What do you eat? Is it healthy? Can you find something healthy you’d like?

Up here in Salmon country it’s cheep. Salmon burgers are a cheep and easy grab and go.

As far as grab and go food, I also like berries and peanuts, cheese and apples and LOVE soup and noodles.

I can get in a rut with tins of soup. That soup isle has so many things… so I’m learning to take a basic soup and add extra stuff, and in 15 minutes, one pot, one burner… soup is served…

Lately my motivation has been rather low - I just dont feel like cooking so much. Also one of my Aunt’s is here visiting us for a week and I really don’t like to cook in front of others.
I am eating a lot of prepared foods, cottage cheese, tuna, salmon in a can, frozen vegetables etc…
I am trying to eat healthy prepared foods but it is difficult especially when there is a box full of Doritos and Cheese puffs in the pantry closet

I don’t eat healthily at all. Despite my cooking lessons due to low motivation I hardly cook and live on ready meals and takeaways.
I like salad but don’t like shopping for all the ingredients. One of the local supermarkets has a salad counter which I would use more if it was not for the fact that the lids on the salad bowls tend not to shut, and carrying it home can be a problem…

The only healthy thing I get is frozen fruit. I tend to find fresh fruit ordered online goes off very quickly.

Once I went to a food bank and they gave me a huge bag of frozen blueberries. Those are so good.

I’ve actually been eating salads lately…and I’m not a salad guy. I don’t like tomatoes nor most salad dressing and this is pretty much why. But a salad sans tomatoes with some raspberry or sesame ginger dressing and I’m good to go.

and yes blueberries are tasty aren’t they? At my parents old house we had them growing wild all back along the swamp in the woods…and I’m talking nice plump blueberries not the usual puny wild ones.

In the US you seem to have a much wider choice of foods.

Maybe a month or so ago the local grocery store had a sale on black cherries. It was like $2 a pound. I bought a big bag. They were ripe, sweet, plump, and clean. Probably the best cherries I’ve ever had. Mmmm…

I’m trying my best to adhere to a diet that I’ve been on for a few months now.

So I eat lots of protein (mainly turkey and chicken), and lots of vegetables.

I do however have a major weakness for pizza lol. So I either order online from Papa Johns (my favorite), or buy a thin crust frozen pizza with Italian meats.

When controlling my pizza addiction, I consistently lose weight. I’ve lost 20 lbs on this diet so far. So I’m almost at my goal weight of 160 (I’m 5’10").

Now I’m craving pizza again lol.

Blessings,

Anthony

My girlfriend is Italian and I love teasing her that the Italians stole all their dishes from China.

Yes this is true

I’m on the Nutrisystem diet. I get to pick out certain foods, and they mail it to my house once a month. I get things like waffles, burritos, hot pocket type things, rices, pastas… Some stuff frozen, some stuff is shelf stable. Last night for dinner I had pasta primavera with chicken meatballs. It was so good, I never would have thought to ever try chicken meatballs but they were delicious. Portions are smaller than what I normally like to eat but that’s a diet for you!!! I’m down 33 pounds.

that sounds like a good diet  i’d love to get my shopping delivered, esp if it is all nice and tasty as well as healthy,

tonight i had mince and tatties (mashed potatoes) it was nice. wasn’t the normal rubbish i usually get, i got shopping yesterday and i got some good meals mostly ready meals but at least they are healthier than what i usually get (i think) lol.

The food is pretty good. Some of it is bland but I’m allowed to add fresh grocery items to spice things up. Like for example, the other night the entree I had was a chicken breast, but I was allowed to add a little whole grain pasta and some steamed vegetables. I like having the majority of my food delivered. Makes grocery shopping a bit easier.

it sounds like you are working from a monthly plan type thing or something, that would be really interesting esp if you can spice it up a bit

Yes, it is a monthly plan. They have a menu and you pick out breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and desserts. Then you just make sure to eat from one of each of those categories, add some fresh fruits, veggies, and dairy, and the weight should start coming off.

lets see, eggs and toast, meal bars, protein powder, carbohydrate powder, catnip, psychedelic mushrooms, rice, cheese, meat.

Nutrisystem has some meal bars for when I’m on the go. I didn’t think I would want them but now that I’m looking at my schedule they might be my only option if I want to eat in the middle of the day.
