I’ve been having difficulty with cognition.
Losing my memory, difficulty finding certain words.
Today my brother stopped by the house and it was difficult for me to speak!
I was stuttering a bit and was trying to remember certain words but they wouldn’t come out right.
My Mother has dementia and she has difficulty talking with others.
I’m really getting worried and if this continues, I’m going to make an appointment with my Moms Geriatric Psychiatrist.
He specializes in dealing with cognitive disorders like Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
I can imagine that would be quite scary for you, considering your family history.
It could just be a worsening of cognitive symptoms, but it couldn’t hurt to have it checked out if it persists.
Oh, you are far better than me. I struggle not to kill myself because I didn’t talk for years. Imagine how I am. while all this time, I wanted to have some life, some love too… I guess some lifting meds help a bit on this, but don’t worry a lot. Plus, if its new, it shouldn’t be serious I find.
Thanks for your concern @Tomasina
Honestly it could be the Depakote I’m taking.
I haven’t started any new meds or raised my dose lately.
I’m going to first bring it up with my psychiatrist and take it from there.
I’m really worried.
I was on invega and at certain doses, what u described is exactly what it did to me. What med are u on if u don’t mind me asking? Maybe lower it or switch that’s what I did and I can speak fluently now. Don’t worry about the dimentia in my opinion it’s the meds!
I’m not gunna lie it really must be ur medicine bc early signs of dimentia aren’t as pronounced as what ur describing. And don’t forget to have ur pdoc screen u for dimentia every now and then
