No sleep for almost 72

Hours. At the end of exactly 70 hours, at about 8 am, when I was just about ready to call a cab to take me to the ER, I laid my head down on the pillow and fell asleep. And I slept all day. For 12 hours.

70 hours is a long time. I feel strange even after 23 hours being awake.

That’s nuts, I start microsleeps around 48 hours, I’ve done this several times and it’s always surprisingly hard to finally get to sleep. This unholy second wind animates my body when I’m running on fumes it seems.

Anything around 72 is just nuts! I’m glad you got some sleep eventually.

I’m glad you got some sleep. Usually at 48 hours i start fritzing a bit and need to see a provider or go to the ER. Last time they put me on temazepam and that seems to be giving me regular sleep over the last 3 months. But it’s a benzo…

I think different people can handle different amounts of sleep now that I think of it. I saw a news piece once on a woman who had gone her whole life with only 3 hours of nightly sleep, and she was healthy and alert.

My sister is like that @agent101g. She’s gone the majority of her adult life on about two hours of sleep a night (and working hard, physical labor jobs) at the same time. My sister didn’t do well on this amount of sleep. She developed four different types of cancer, suffered severe migraines and was generally very irritable and miserable. She’s 63 now and is finally getting good sleep taking nighttime Benadryl.
