No ECT for me

I called my clinic today to talk about ECT. It isn’t done here by my doctor. If I want it I have to change doctors and NOT going to do that.

My therapist did I’m not a good candidate for it anyway. She said it is for people who don’t shower, clean, don’t get out of bed…I told her I haven’t told her about what I do at home. Or don’t do.

Anyway, I think I am a good candidate but pretty much out of my hands unless I change doctors. I don’t want to because he is great. Nice and friendly, good bedside manner so to speak. The others here are just UGH.

She also said the ECT isn’t the miracle that it is often made out to be. It won’t cure me and she knows I want to be normal.

I was wondering about ECT too. But I would have to go out of town and that doesn’t work for me. I think I just get fed up about not getting at least a little better each day. I don’t like feeling stuck and right now I feel so stuck. I just can’t seem to find the energy to make any improvements in my situation. Everyday it’s the same thing fighting this lack of motivation and losing the fight. That’s why I want ECT to give me a big change. But I guess that’s just wishful thinking anyway. I’m sorry you don’t really qualify and your doctor won’t do it.

@Leaf It’s the same for me. Out of town and new doc. He used to do it but stopped.not sure why. My therapist said to talk to him anyway just in case he decides to do it for me.

I’d feel special then.

@dougRN That is sad. Hopefully you find something that helps as much as ECT.
