New Years health resolutions for 2022

I have been struggling with insomnia for several months due to tapering off Xanax. I was done with my taper 2 months ago and I am sleeping a little bit better so maybe I can pursue my health goals. I am 52 and I am supposed to eat healthy and exercise for my thyroid condition and my general health. I want to live as long as possible.
I am 5’5" and 137 and I eat like absolute crap right now and don’t exercise. I want to start eating healthy and use my gym membership. It’s just hard to get going. In addition to eating a lot of processed and sugary foods, I also drink a ton of calories and sugar. I drink chocolate milk, regular milk and orange juice instead of water. I might feel a lot better and even sleep better if I was able to work out and eat well. Also, I would automatically lose weight by exercising and eating healthy and I’d be able to get into my wardrobe of clothes that only fit if I weigh 120 or so. I gained a ton of weight when I was first put on Risperdal. I went from 120 to 145 very quickly. I weighed 120 for years and still have lots of nice clothes that I can’t wear.
I used to do a Keto diet to lose weight and be healthy but I am going to try just eating old-school healthy like fish, chicken, salads, fruit, egg whites, veggies, whole grains etc. and drinking lots of (Crystal Light) water!
Anyone else trying to up their diet and exercise game?

Mine is to just not die in 2022 if possible.

I’m doubling down on my diet and trying to lose several pounds. Plus, I want to continue going to the gym

I started back to the gym last August but fell off the wagon a couple months later due to lack of sleep. I was only sleeping 3 hours a night. Now I am up to around 6 with the occasional 8 hour night so I hope to go back soon.

Sleep is my predicament as well. I guess my new years resolution is to do my best to fix sleeping issues, then excersice and other things will follow.

Me too. My diet needs to change.

I really don’t like official resolutions but I still plan on losing at least 60 pounds.

I don’t know how realistic it is but I’m certainly going to try.

I’m being placed on a diabetic drug that is also used for weight loss, hopefully it will help.

I’m wondering if I am pre-diabetic. I have started being much more thirsty than I was when I was younger. I also crave sugar whenever I eat a healthy meal.

@non-average, don’t worry about what you did or didn’t do in the past. Just worry about what you can do for today each day. It helps your mindset which can help with more positivity.

I don’t want to go back to the gym because they’re not requiring masks there. I need to get back to working out at home and then force myself to take walks (I’m not into walking for exercise – I like the stepper and the spin bike – so it’s really hard).

I live in Washington State so everyone has to wear masks everywhere. I just need the energy to go to the gym. Once I start sleeping better, I will go.
