New and from germany

Welcome @Schizogirl. I’m an old timer here (74). I’m from the States but my Dad was a German immigrant. He came over when he was a teen, after WW1.

Can I say I’m from Germany? According to ancestry.com I’m 47 percent German. But I live in ohio.

Welcome to the forum!
I’m from Denmark, that makes us almost neighbours, haha

Welcome to this safe place!

Anytime :grin:151515

Welcome here  :canada:

Hi! You’re gonna have to help me…where is “germiny”?

No, that only works in the US. In the rest of the world, saying “I’m German” or “I’m from Germany” actually means you’re from Germany and not from the US.

Also, it can be slightly offensive to others to claim the nationality of a country you’ve never lived in.

You’re German tree?

No, I’m Scandinavian. But I would be slightly offended if someone who didn’t speak my language and knew next to nothing about my culture claimed my national identity as their own.

I’m in the same boat. I get very patriotic a few times a month.

I just asked cause I might move to Germany in a few years

Germany seems like a lovely place to live. I’ve only been to Berlin three times and not outside of Berlin, though.

And their trains are amazing! :open_mouth:
