I need to ask 3 people for a recommendation for a scholarship. It’s due in January so I’ve got to start asking now. All they have to do is fill out a form and sign it. I’m so nervous to do it, what if they don’t want to, or feel like I deserve it? I don’t have many people to ask, so if they say no I’m kind of screwed. Any tips for asking for the recommendation?

Be polite and state your case.

try to be as professional in your request as possible. be to the point but give a reason for why you are interested in the scholarship and think they are good recommenders/know your aptitudes. i would also say ask NOW. this week. giving ample time and letting them know that if they have questions or need supplementary information you’re happy to oblige.
