Needed: A biopsychosocial ‘therapeutic placenta’ for people with schizophrenia

Schizophrenia and stroke are 2 serious brain disorders that involve brain damage and disability. Yet the difference between the 2 disorders is stunning in terms of how
resources are invested for their acute treatment and long-term rehabilitation.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of improving our fate, but “therapeutic placenta.” Come on, let’s not gross out everyone who is trying to help us. Unless they want to get Republicans involved like we’re fetuses or something. :wink:

I appreciate you posting this article @firemonkey. This is not a criticism of your valiant efforts to keep us informed. It is more a mixture of comic relief and skepticism as to why researchers would frame this in such a way. I wish I could ask them why they used that metaphor. I think I got it right with the Republican idea. :smile:
