Need a mood stabiler, I think. Need help from others using public care in U.S

I think it is safe to say I could use a mood stabilizer?
I feel like I am only tolerating loved ones trying to initiate a conversation.

I dont want even well-meaning strangers talking to me at all. People who have nothing good to say, I just want to rip their heads clean off.
Right now my only written diagnoses is anxiety and depression. I have hallucinated in the past. I have told them this. I dont think they take my case seriously.

I am not familiar with psych. meds.
I am thinking I need something more than a an ssri. I have already told them that this 3rd one I have tried is also not working. This s**t might as well be from a toy Pez dispenser.

Isnt that what I need? a mood stabiler? what stops the feelings of irratation and anger?

What do they mostly give out in the way of mood stabilizers at public tax supported MI clinics? (I cant take just anything because of other health problems.) What are the popular generics of mood stabilizers at this type of place?

Did it help you?

Thank You

I think the really attractive mood stabilizer is Lamictal. Not too many people are helped by it, however.

I think you want to look at your symptoms more carefully. Med providers want to treat symptoms with medications. If someone presents with chronic anxiety and depression, an SSRI makes sense. If you can target your symptoms better, he or she may be able to better prescribe for you

I dont understand why it is attractive if it helps so few?

I think it is anger that is a symptom, not just anxiety or depression. Do you think saying that would get me anywhere? This (internet/forum) is one of the few places I can remain civil for a little a while.

I seem to want to avoid everyone because I dont want them talking to me.

Would saying these things above help with being more accurate? or am I still way off and being too general?

I take Lamictal, among other things , and I am one of the few that Lamictal is just right for … it worked miracles for my BiPolar (rapid cycling, anxiety, mood swings,) …it does NOT help with voices or hallucinations take AP for that

Oops .:: I just seen the part about the public care …:

yup. bummer. is that one exspensive? (unavailable)

We have to be VERY careful what we say, do, ask in public care as it is tax funded and they want us out asap.

I’m unsure… that’s why I said oops… I read that part late … I have private insurance… When you say public so you men like Health Dept? Clinics ?

yes. They do thinhs different there than regular pdoc/therapist. I dont think all medications are available unless cost is justified. They use only generics so if that one is still under patend, then no-go.

but thanks for replying. I know were trying to help.

Well my insurance gives me the generic everything unless specified so I don’t get the “real” Lamictal… it’s actually Lamictrogene or something along those lines. and I understand I work in the State Social Work System .::: The system doesn’t care and gives its people the bare minimum to survive

@MissPrissy352 I feel affirmed that you write about liking Lamictal.

Lamictal has a side effect profile with which usually one can live comfortably. If one still wants to go with mood stabilizers, Depakote (Valproic Acid) really works, but the side effects are not easy.

I’m fairly angry, but I do anger nicely. That is, I don’t raise my voice or talk fast so much as I put on my hat and leave.
