Do you know if MyChart messages sent to a psychiatrist are able to be read by any doctor that is in your ‘care team’ , meaning any doctor you have seen or will see? I read this is true, but don’t know if there are any exceptions.
I am wondering this because my pdoc said she saw a message I sent to my primary doctor.
I hope not. What an embarrassment it would be to go to an orthopedic doctor, or any doctor, and them know I’m bat s#!t crazy.

this I don’t know for sure, and I have MyChart, but I do know other doctors have responded to me at times when my doctor isn’t available to answer my questions or messages hope this helps.

I don’t know if your MyChart is the same version as mine, but I believe when a doc logs onto your page they’re able to see med lists and stuff— if they have knowledge of med names they might be able to speculate as to what ails you.
Don’t know about messages to other doctors though.

My doctors all know my diagnosis from the forms I filled out when I first saw them. I’ve been seeing my dermatologist for about 5 years now and when I brought up my diagnosis about a year ago (couldn’t avoid it) she told me she had forgotten what it was. I guess it’s easy to forget, it’s written down but it’s never discussed. And my GP knows my diagnosis but I never detect any stigma or anything like that.

Didn’t think about the med names… that can be an important one for them to know I suppose.
Think I’m just kinda freaking about the seriously quacky things I wrote.
Just speculating… I went to a burn doctor some time ago. He and the nurse were both reading something on the computer in front of me, both of their jaws were on the ground and they were looking up at me. I messaged my pdoc some serious stuff around that time

Oh geez, yea that can’t be a good feeling having other docs look at private messages between you and your pdoc (which sounds like it could have been a slight possibility).
Good thing that’s all in the past and you are hopefully doing better now— honestly, I would maybe not use MyChart for the highly sensitive stuff in the future, if possible. That is just me being paranoid though— the best response I can give is do what makes you feel comfortable.
Wishing you the best

That’s good advice, and thanks too. I am doing better now.
This messaging business just popped in my head since the ol’ doc asked me to send an update soon. Soooo my answer to her may be along the lines of ummm well, you see… lol
Thanks for the wishes

In MyChart you can add organizations to your chart so they can view everything that other doctors from other networks do for you. I would delete the organizations or limit their view so they can’t share everything. I think they cant necessarily access what you’ve written but can see what other doctors have written to you in responses and any notes or summaries about your conditions.

I didn’t know about other networks possibly having access too
Me and MyChart aren’t friends right now

They can only have access if you give them access. Without your permission, it’s against the law. It’s the HIPAA law.
