My wisdom about getting in fights

After being in a few fights at school and getting my ass kicked and after being in a few fights with my friend and being jumped in back of a bar by three cowboys when I was 17 because I gave the cowboys a dirty look. I learned the secret about fights.
Here it is. Shssss, don’t tell anyone. Are you ready? Here it is: DON"T GET IN FIGHTS.

I was always terrible at fighting. I have become a master at screaming loudly and running away, though!

I haven’t even been in a fight since I was 12. I’ve lost a fair share in my time too. Before I joined the service I took martial arts, for the discipline and tradition, not to hurt people.

Thankfully I have never had to use any of it.

When someone wants to fight me now, I make loud honking noises and stare at their neck until they leave me alone. It has worked every time except once when a goose got in my face and wanted to fight me.

When I honked at him and stared at his neck he honked back and he told me, "Sht, it’s like looking in a eff’n mirror", and then he hit me and he proceeded to hand me my as on a plate

I’ve always been good at fighting…did kendo in highschool…military trained me in unarmed combat I was already better than my instructors when I started…it gives me confidence but I’m so afraid of really hurting someone…its much better to talk it out…if it comes to blows I consider the encounter a failure…

Geese and swans are super easy…notice they bow their heads before you get too close…humans are dicks…just bow back…I’ve gotten close enough to pet Canadian geese and swans…just be polite and bow back and they won’t whore you lol…

I didn’t either until I stumbled across it. :relieved:

Your gif powers are great Jedi…I actually learned it from that king Arthur book we all had to read in like 8th grade…merlin tells young Arthur to not be rude and bow back to the geese…I tried it…it works…

Lol it really went to goose fight wisdom with gifs and Jedi references lol were awesome…the more you know *rainbow…

You actually know a lot of facts about animals. I’ve learned a lot from you. I hereby knight you Sir Dr. Doolittle.:relaxed:

I think I got druid blood in me…I was 7 and a wolf came up and sniffed me while I was sleeping on the ground…my dad said it sniffed me licked my forehead and sat down…he said he was too afraid he would spook it and end up mauling me…but he said it just hung out and left…wolf blood… I also have trouble killing animals even if they are suffering…I very much agree with the romanticised 1800-1900 version of the druids lovers of nature and negotiators of man…

Ah, the ancient martial art of getting out of fights while making the people watching laugh hysterically. That’s a rare gift @Ninjastar, use it wisely.

Hi there new really a newbie to this site, would like to pick ur brain on this subject just a bit, lol after all else fails what to do.
when your rather old and crippled , just let the parinoia set in, ??? long story kinda here when the police can’t make an arrest for no contact or a civil injunction won’t work. ?

I’m not quite sure what your asking. I’m 55 and I have a bad back which which prevents me from running very fast or very far. Last night I walked 5 blocks to my car to move it closer to my home. My neighborhood is a mixture of middle class families, the homeless, gangs, and frat houses. About three months ago two people were driving a van down my street and they were shot by someone walking down the street. They both died.

During the day, I have to go out and run errands and go to work so I need to leave the house. Nighttime is a different story.
I live in the downtown area in my city. I try to keep to a minimum the times I have to go out alone at night. I know the risks of going out at night but sometimes I have to take my chances. I don’t know if I’m brave, ignorant or just lucky when I go out at night. In 1990-95 I lived in a board & care home in the worst part of town. For almost 5 years I walked the streets for 20 minutes to get to the bus stop because I was going to 5 or 6 AA, CA, and NA meetings a week.

Sometimes I would miss my bus so I would end up walking for 6 or 7 blocks down our main drag by myself to a meeting and then I would have to walk back home at 9:30 or 10:00 at night down the darkened street and occasionalyl there would be hookers walking down the street and shady people in old cars. No one bothered me for 5 years. When I walk down the street where I am now, my point of view is that it is a calculated risk that I’m willing to take.

Hi 77, ty for your quick reply, well yes this is kinda the exact answer I was looking for. I have been a bit symptomatic lately but I have never been to the point I have had to deal with feeling’s of shame of to fight and or not to fight.

diplomacy is always the way to go I know. but I live with my family/ mom and sister I’m 58, and one’s 86 and 65. so I have never needed to feel this way as I have alway’s lived on my own. and taken very good care of myself.
