My Steam Deck only has 64 gb's of storage space

Purchased a replacement ssd which is like 512 gb’s but one of the screws stripped when I was trying to open the back

Was going to get a removal tool to get the screw out but I’m putting it off because it is not that urgent

In a way less storage space forces me to be more conscious of what I download or install. Have a 500 gb micro sd card at least.

Thoughts?

I dont even know what a steam deck is haha. I just have an xbox series x. But i get ya. Even my 1 terabyte hard drive is annoyingly small for my games. Wanna get an external hard drive for it. I hate having to uninstall games to install a new one.

I used to have a TI/99 when I was a kid. I had a P-box for it and I got a massive 4 MB MFM hard disk for it. Couldn’t imagine ever filling that up. Here’s what it looked like compared to a conventional hard disk with coins thrown in for size.

Now compare a MicroSD card to a penny:

My 512 GB Micro SD card for my drone is equivalent to 131,072 of those old hard drives. Here’s what they look like all in one place:

To you something is “only 64 GB”. To us olders only 64 GB in today’s current storage densities is fookin’ mind blowing.

Edit: You should see what a 4.5 MB MP3 file looks like in punch cards. LOL.

2nd Edit: Here’s your 4.5 MB MP3 file if such a thing existed in 1955 and had to be stored on punch cards:

My first computer, an Apple 2c, had a 128kb hard drive. Yes, kilobyte! It was a big deal at the time…
