I’ve noticed lately that my spelling has gotten worse.
I’ve started to write words that sound almost exactly like the word I’m trying to write, but it spells differently.
Like ‘World’ instead of ‘would’ or ‘want’ instead of ‘won’t’.
I’m also starting to skip some words in sentences. Like, I forget to write a word in the middle of the sentence, and the sentence no longer makes sense, but I don’t notice until afterwards. I also sometimes forget letters in words.
I know I tend to overthink things, but I’m worried this might be a symptom of something. It could be because I’ve been drinking coffee lately, maybe the coffee is making me think faster than I can keep up with.
Is it something I should mention to my pdoc on tuesday?
I’ll sometimes type a completely different word to the word I intended to use. Usually I spot it before I hit reply. I put it down to my brain getting sidetracked.
@Berru you are young, so this spelling problem could be cognitive impairment caused by the meds…I have spelling issues either, but I’m getting old, it could be both the side effects of my meds and my aging proccess.
This is my fear as well. I have all the same things happen to me and it makes me feel so dumb. It happens often enough I can’t really just chalk it up to accident. Though, it’s been going on for years and not really gotten worse yet. Hopefully I’m keeping my brain active enough.
I’ve noticed it happens more often recently, but like I said, it might just be the coffee making me jittery. I hope it’s just the coffee.
It worries me when things deviate from my norm, and even though I normally make spelling errors, it’s usually a matter of typing too fast to get the letters in order, not forgetting words or letters, or replacing the words with similar ones.
I wonder if this is just down to the fact that none of us are robots and however cognitively skilled we may,or may not, be we are going to slip up from time to time.
I would be looking for other signs to prove or disprove that cognitive deterioration is going on,whether that be due to illness, meds or other factors.
Thank you. English is technically my third language. The first being Danish and the second being Norwegian. I don’t write much Norwegian anymore, but I’ve noticed I’m making the mistakes I described in Danish as well as English.
it could be coffee speeding up your thinking process, maybe. I would mention it to your pdoc, it wouldn’t hurt just to see what he/she has to say about it.
