He is a juvenile diabetic He lives with his dad and stepmom. I talked to his dad. They put an iv in and filled him with fluids. That brought it down to 289. Waiting to hear from stepmom for more news. idk what caused the spike
Oh my gosh! I hope he’s ok. Has it been that high before?
How scary! I hope he’s okay.
Yes. He ate too much at school once and his blood sugar skyrocketed.
His dad told me the docs in the ER got it down to 289 with lots of fluids. My son lives 2 hours away and I have no transportation right now
That’s so scary!
Yeah considering 84-120 is normal. He was 475. I’m sure he wants candy like the other kids get to have. He’s 8. Type 1 diabetic
Oh he’s so young! I hope it all ends up ok
My mom was a juvenile diabetic. My daughter doesn’t have it but my son who’s younger does.
I also had gestational diabetes with him. Idk if that has anything to do with it
My nephew, at the age of eight, was discovered to have childhood diabetes with a blood sugar in the 500’s. He almost died. He is in his mid twenties right now and doing good, although he doesn’t follow his diabetic diet.
I’ve never heard that gestational diabetes causes diabetes in the born children.
sorry about your son loke, i’m sure he’ll be ok, why dont you get him on the phone or something
Yeah. His dad said his sugars now 289 and he will be going to school tomorrow
Glad he’s doing better @Loke.
I’m sorry to hear that, Like. I hope he gets better soon.
There is no such thing as a diabetic diet in type 1 diabetes. It’s an autoimmune disease that causes no insulin production. With insulin shots/infusions, your diet is the same as anybody else without type 1 diabetes. Diabetic diets are for type 2 diabetics. I’ve been a type 1 diabetic for 16 years and I’m heavily involved in advocacy.
