My pdoc quit

I had an appointment this morning and found out my pdoc has left the job. It’s amazing how these professionals never have to give notice.

That’s so wrong. We’re you able to get another appointment with someone else soon?

No, no new appointment yet.

So, what are you going to do?! Can your primary dr give you your refills until you get a new pdoc?

I have refills. It won’t be long before I am telling a new pdoc my history again.

Aw, that sucks that they quit, and especially with no notice.

I always hated that. Takes forever to get a new pdoc up to speed. Good luck, though! I hope you can get a new pdoc soon.

Sometimes that has been an unpleasant fact of life for me, too.

Mine did the same thing. She did warn me months in advance tho but the clinic I go to still hasn’t replaced her. It’s been 6 months. She gave me 6 months of refills.

So far I’m lucky. I’ve had caseworkers leave without letting me know. Your pdoc should have let you know.

My VA system is great with this sort of thing. They assign me a new pdoc if my current one switches. They recently switched to this pdoc, the 8th VA one I’ve had. Don’t know what happened to the previous one. I think she moved.

Also, I notice they seem to assign the patient to “teams” like “Alpha team” or “Bravo team”. So, there appear to be 3 pdocs per team. Much easier to switch or get consultation.
