My pdoc is spiritual

It’s kind of cool that my psychiatrist is spiritual.
She is of Indian descent and is influenced by a combination of Hindu and Christian philosophies.

She believes in reincarnation and told me that in my next life I could be a successful executive like my brother.

She also gives me advice and tells me that Karma plays a big role in my life.

I’m not religious but I do appreciate all of the wise advice she gives me.

Her beliefs are a combination of both Eastern and Western ideals and concepts.

I kind of like her approach to things.

Sounds good so far, hope she can be the one to help you get some joy back into your life. life is too short not to enjoy it, but far too long when you’re miserable.

Uh oh. I never heard anything like that before. Normally psychiatrists stay away from talking about unusual beliefs that THEY have. Bizarre. I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Yeah she isn’t really religious and doesn’t shove religion down my throat.
Thanks @Csummers!

I would be alarmed if my psychiatrist started talking about future or past lives. It is against the rules for them to share their spiritual beliefs with patients.

Reincarnation and Karma are not unusual concepts in the Hindu religion.

She is subtle with the advice she gives me.
I wouldn’t like it if she talked about it all the time.

We mainly discuss medications.

@Wave : one thing I will tell you boy.
Don’t buy the rubbish about the next life, try to squeeze the most out of your CURRENT life.

Quick reminder that this discussion is about @Wave’s psychiatrist, not reincarnation and whether or not you believe in it. If this turns into a religious debate, I will shut it down.

No please don’t ::tired_face:

my p/doc, he is more interested in the meds tbh :frowning:

Don’t get me wrong, my psychiatrist mainly discusses medications with me.
But she also wants to know a bit about my life and stressors.

I find you very disrespectful to my friend, @Wave

Have some manners.

have you ever thought about attending a Hindu temple? you may find it more enlightening than discussing it with your p/doc

@anon17132524, I write what I write.
I find nothing problematic or offensive with what I wrote.
I am feel that I am not sufficiently respected on the internet, not only here but in Israeli forums as well.
I have hostile intrusive thoughts and voices, but my situation with how I get along with people IN REAL LIFE is
better than on the internet.

Calling grown men “boy” or a grown woman “girl” is disrespectful.
