There is a difference between being sad and being depressed. If your friend dies you’re sad, so sadness is a normal reaction to loss or other specific events. It usually goes away on its own in a relatively short amount of time.
Depression is persistent sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest in activities. There are also physical symptoms.
I think cold water therapy (cold showers) and/or exercise are two ways that may help with depression.
The opposite of depression is not happy, the opposite of depression is vitality.
i’m sorry you are going off the a p med…sounds like your unhappiness is situational and could change…what does your a p have to do with that? if you are stable,that’s half the battle in finding hope and happiness if you ask me.
Good luck changing meds if you go for that, I’ve been on zyprexa for about 5 years, they do give some of that effect you’re talking about, I have a feeling all meds do, but they have never removed the joy from life completely.
Keep trying @TheSecondVariety I was relying on perphenazine for thirty years and ended up with severe motivational issues. I now am taking abilify 7mg twice daily along with perphenazine and it got me out of a terrible slump.
