My outlook is bleak

There is a difference between being sad and being depressed. If your friend dies you’re sad, so sadness is a normal reaction to loss or other specific events. It usually goes away on its own in a relatively short amount of time.

Depression is persistent sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest in activities. There are also physical symptoms.

I think cold water therapy (cold showers) and/or exercise are two ways that may help with depression.

The opposite of depression is not happy, the opposite of depression is vitality.

i’m sorry you are going off the a p med…sounds like your unhappiness is situational and could change…what does your a p have to do with that? if you are stable, that’s half the battle in finding hope and happiness if you ask me.

I was on 16mg of perphenazine and it made me feel depressed :pensive: maybe it’s doing the same thing to you.

Good luck changing meds if you go for that, I’ve been on zyprexa for about 5 years, they do give some of that effect you’re talking about, I have a feeling all meds do, but they have never removed the joy from life completely.

Keep trying @TheSecondVariety I was relying on perphenazine for thirty years and ended up with severe motivational issues. I now am taking abilify 7mg twice daily along with perphenazine and it got me out of a terrible slump.
