My first few days in the hospital

Waves of reality
What’s your name
Date
Birthday
All swimming in front
Of my eyes
Just say the words
Say them
Trick them
Into believing
You are okay
You are fine
Say it
You know
What is it
What is my phone number
The numbers
Scattered around
In my shattered mind
Needles
Cuffs
Pulse
Pushed and prodded
All a dream
Close your eyes
Let this end
Ending is much more
Peaceful
Than this
Ending
Isn’t supposed
To be this way
Peaceful
Close my eyes
Sleep well
Peace .

That’s about how my brain was going when I was in the hospital, too.

I haven’t seen you in a few weeks. We’re you in the hospital? Or is this a poem about an earlier time?

I just got out after a 6 week stay due to an overdose

I’m sorry. How are you feeling now?

Quite a bit better and lots of safeguards put in place . I’m glad about that.

I’m glad you were able to get help when you needed it.
