It uses water and essential oils to vaporize for nice scents. It is supposed to be calming.

I only have lavender. And it came from amazon.
I originally bought it for sleep.
Supposedly there is a difference in nice oils and cheap oils. I do t know what that difference is though. But the lavender I have was highly reviewed.

Also, most will shut off when they are out of water so you may not need to worry if you fall asleep with it going.
