My Cat is Getting Neutered RN

I won a free neutering! On national spay and neuter day, the local animal shelter offered a free fixing for the first 28 callers the next day…well I had my phone at ten til the time, all prepped to dial.

I called the wrong number first, but then I got through and was lucky enough to be accepted as one of the 28! Been broke since my car broke down and I missed a ton of work, so I haven’t been able to afford vet care for my new cat. He’s healthy but needs his vaccines and a neutering (his first vet visit $$ went to fixing his immediate health issues he had when I picked up the cat off craigslist–ear mites, worms, upper resp. infection).

I felt horrible saying no vaccines today, sorry, but I am telling myself that now that I have my car back I can pay the 50 bucks the second week of March. Soon, my cat will be up to date on vaccines and hopefully on prozac too since he’s been a biter and scratcher since he got all healthy after his illnesses.

I pick him up before 3 pm California time. I am kind of nervous that he will have a complication, but that’s just my anxiety. I am sooo grateful to the animal shelter for providing a free neutering! I almost cried a little when she said there were still spots open!
I love my cat and miss him right now that he’s not jumping onto my computer’s keyboard causing me to type random letters while posting this like kcdkjasfkldjadf99999993e3…\
miss you kitteh!

I’m sure kitty will be fine. Neutering males is pretty straightforward

Here’s my cat–all back from the vets, post-neuter! They said not to let him jump so now I’ve got that to worry about…

I was actually there about two hours too early and had to hang out at my mom’s because they said he wasn’t ready. I just got impatient, I guess, but now he’s back! I missed him, I was like GiveCatBackNow.
Here’s his tail, they shaved his belly.

Don’t worry excessively about the jumping. This is a bigger deal for female cats, who have had invasive surgery that opens the abdominal wall and leaves them at risk for muscle tears and intestinal hernias.

Boy cats, though - honestly, they just make a slit and pop them out. It’s very superficial surgery, physically. It’s good to keep him calm for a few days, but if he won’t be calm, don’t fret about it.
