More poems: Facing our Fears

Facing our Fears

can you face your own fear with a smile?
wait until it all clouds over
and denial?

I know that we can do this, but not alone

kneeling before judgement
I see the dead come to life
in hospitals, I feel them choking
on the vomit of a planned emergency

and our leaders sit idly by
doing nothing…

he has his finger on the trigger
but he won’t stop the screams
as our suffering turns into
a sort of pornography of terror

of all the obscene now seen
meanwhile Jesus turns black
and he’s crying that he can’t breathe

as the officer kneels over him
and his mouth starts to bleed
as he’s standing before the throne
of the father, next to his mother

and he cries, you were also my brother
and this is the end of the corporate monopoly
and this is the end…of the mediated frenzy
there are no more leaders

there are no more kings
the puppets are in the streets dancing
without any puppet strings.
