Omg. I need this blown up as a poster and hung in my room. I’m the world’s greatest catastrophizer.

Cat Stevens. :)

Having ptsd symptoms and schizotypal stuff. I just read something that said that people with ptsd and also on the schizophrenia spectrum tend to have even more ptsd symptoms. I kind of wondered if that were true. Everything is always so intense.

Struggling through the packet of intake forms from a community mental health center, especially proof of income, since I haven’t been functioning well enough to have any of the documents I need.

Called the Health Center and they said, “Just fill out the forms and come in. They’ll work it out with you.” A huge relief.

The only thing that rattled me was when the crisis center worker said, “I know those ptsd triggers are real for you,” as soon as he found out I was on the schizophrenia spectrum. In a tone of voice that told me I was being humored. (Sigh.)

I grew up in an abusive family that specialized in denial, and still does. I feel crazy enough trying to validate for myself how bad it was, especially since recently back in contact with extended family again, and that denial that anything is/was wrong at all still holds true for them as well. It’s triggering a lot of ptsd stuff.

I wonder if therapy at this community center is just going to be another uphill climb to work on both issues at once.

So tired.

Sorry to ramble. I just needed to put this all down and get it out, because my agitation levels are set on high, and I can’t rest.

Think I can calm down now that i’ve put it down somewhere.

PTSD is intense and having an unsteady foundation (sz “stuff”) only makes it more intense. I say focus on your foundation and listen to your body/mind as to exactly how much of the ptsd “stuff” you can work through at any given moment. I’m coming from the other side of the ptsd mountain and am living proof that it can get better if you work through it. And working through it in the end, for me, meant letting go. I know people say that all the time, but it worked for me. It took a lot of pain and agony and reliving and yet more pain, but now I let the past stay in the past. Will it come back? I can’t say. I hope not. But if it does, I will beat it again. I know you can do this. I have hope for you. And you have another uphill climb, that’s good, keep climbing.

Thank you so much for that, for the validation and the hope. If I could <3 your comment many times, I would.
