I don’t know what to do about somnolence. Every few days my sleep schedule goes haywire such that I have a day or two of unpredictable somnolence and end up in bed the entire day.
I don’t know what I hope to get writing this, ADs didn’t do it for me. Only willpower does it for me, but that doesn’t eliminate the sleep schedule going out of sync every 4/5 days or so.
Caffeine works, but I can’t afford caffeine contiously throughout a month
Tell me, if im talking out my backside - but im sure i was told by someone, that increasing your carbs can help. Because you getting a constant slow release of energy? Instead of the hit with coffee that dips.
It would, but because the metabolism is affected by our meds - carbs will generally just make patients with antipsychotics gain weight
That’s my understanding. That being said, if I increase gluten free carbs - I do feel a little more energetic. So there’s something I should try I think (probably ask my healthcare team too tbh)
@Naarai thank you btw, i didn’t think of the gluten free carb idea till you mentioned carbs
try to switch to another antipsychotic that have less probability to cause somnolence or lower the dose of your current antipsychotic also dont take it in the morning .and regarding atomoxetine it helps me alot and gives me vigilance and energy at low dose (10mg/day)
I have this problem of inconsistent sleep patterns as well.
On holidays, I end up sleeping 15-16 hours, because there is virtually no dopamine to get up and do mundane things. Then, because I sleep so much more on Sunday’s, I usually only sleep 2-3 hours on Monday night, and the inconsistent schedule carries through the week as I recuperate on Tuesday night by sleeping around 10 hours, and what happens on Wednesday’s is anyone’s guess.
I don’t know why this happens to me, I think it has something to do with dopamine, I have less on Sunday’s, so I end up sleeping more, and I have more when the market is good and I am invested, and I have to wake up in order to attend the stock market. On those days, I can sleep much lesser and still wake up easily.
I lose a ton of weight on Atomexetine, it rendered the APS ineffective in causing weight gain very rapidly, but the downside was that I was getting psychotic. So, I had to stop it.
