Metformin troubles

As I’ve been off metformin for a while, my doctor gave me a plan to get on it, and according to that plan, I gotta increase it by 500mg ever two weeks.

I’m nauseous and I have diarrhea. This sucks donkeyballs!
And those side-effects last for several days every time I increase the dosage. It’s gonna be a long 6 weeks.

I understand why I have to take metformin, but I really wish I didn’t have to.

Any ideas on how to minimize the side-effects, other than taking it with food?

Just have to wait for the side effects to go away. They don’t last very long.

Just keep telling yourself it’s temporary. Once you’re there, those side effects will go away. Take it with food, don’t do anything strenuous. When I was on it even lifting the mattress to change the sheets was enough to send me puking. Just take it as easy as possible.

Try eating things like cheese the week prior. Then for nausea mint helps and lay on your left side.

Ginger is good for nausea. So is ativan, You could always ask for anti-diarrhea and anti-nausea meds.
