Meringue cookies

I got soooo frustrated with Mr. Star over these because I had the egg whites warming up on the counter while I ran to the store, and I came home to find he had stuck them in the fridge and put away all the ingredients I had set out!

I love my autistic husband, but moments like this really highlight how differently he thinks.

Anyways, enjoy these very basic meringue cookies that I made as a counter to being frustrated with this overly pretentious blog who acted like they were a unique amazing invention

They look very yummy, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t usually like meringue.

@jukebox I need to bake or I lose my mind. Had to use the crisis line twice this week, so we get cookies! It’s cheaper and more effective than anxiety meds or self-medicating. I haven’t been doing it much since I started parenting, which probably explains my heightened stress levels.

Baking isn’t that expensive. Aldi and Walmart have cheap ingredients. I’m super poor and I can bake stuff.

In a lot of cases it’s cheaper than buying. Especially with bread. A loaf of bread costs like 10 cents if you bake it.

I will freely admit that many of my foods use expensive ingredients, but these cookies are just egg whites, sugar, vanilla, and a dash of cream of tartar.

Yep. The most expensive thing is the cream of tartar but one container lasts a while. i just found flour, sugar, and more at Wegmans for 99 cent.

Aldi has really cheap baking supplies. Good quality.

We do a lot of baking too. My favorite right now is banana bread with sour cream as an ingredient. Super tasty!

Yeah, I do a lot of cooking and baking from scratch, or half scratch, because it’s so much cheaper than buying prepackaged food a lot of the time. But you have to be willing to put in the effort, which honestly takes a LOT of energy. And it’s not always worth it.

I love those things, I haven’t had them for years. Now I know what I’m making next.

They look very good but I’m not sure if I should eat things I can’t even pronounce. Good for you on the baking hobby. I bet Starlet ravaged those things.
