I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia in 2013. The main symptom was paranoia. But this was very close to me stopping drug use, and Ive read drug use effects can last up to a year and sometimes longer.
Around the time I started antipsychotics, I developed severe anxiety and tremors with it (whenever I meet new people). This has been such a debilitating thing for me, as it stops me from having a relationship (I know my hands will shake when meeting someone and its so embarrassing).
My question is, have any of you developed anxiety tremors due to your medication? I am now questioning my diagnosis, as I was also diagnosed with bi polar but eventually learned I do not have it (over 6 months without any symptoms). Ive been on meds for so long and really want to try wean off, to see if my tremors go away. Thoughts?
I would think that this would be something that you would want to discuss with your doctor. Have you tried switching antipsychotics? That might be something that might help you. If you are Schizophrenic you risk a psychotic break if you try to “wean off” the medication on your own.
I also would like to try to get off my medication but I know the consequences of attempting this. You should definitely consult your doctor.
I personally have never developed any tremors with my AP’s btw.
Drugs and drugs withdrawal also cause tremors.
I used Benzatropine 2-4mg to stop my eyelid tremors and akathisia, its works after 20-30 min, you can ask your psychiatrist about it.
You can also change your med or its dosage with the help of your psychiatrist.
Avoid too much caffeine, it also increase tremors.
I have tried multiple medications. The one Im on now (Espiride) is the first that doesnt make me constantly hungry, so Im reluctant to go on anything else again. I’ve tried beta blockers for tremors which didnt work. Feeling very sad and dispondent!
