I think you just need to get quicker to the chorus…and it needs some chord changes to lift and propel the song upwards.
As it is now, I feel the tune just lies there. I tried in my acoustic version to raise the bar a bit around the chorus.
Having said all of this though, you’re own version is very heartfelt and passionate…reminds me of Willie Nelson.
Good job @Cragger. I think we’ll get to the bottom of this eventually.

Like I say, this is a very bare-bones take. There will be a lot of instrumentation added after the fact
I really don’t want to change the structure or the chord pattern of the song, I was really just hoping for a good vocal and you seem to have the voice for it

As far as what I think for this one I feel it should be kept realtively simple, like maybe what you have with the guitars, voice, drums, bass and some background strings. Im also hearing a pedal steel guitar sometimes, just a few slidey notes here and there, maybe on the buildup to the chorus to move the song forward as you said, I think the structure is great but the details arent in there yet
Itll sound a lot better after its fully mixed as well, which is why Im hyped about it, it already sounds really good! Great job guys and keep me updated
