Making the perfect thread for maximum participation

I was thinking about what makes some threads so popular and others only get a few replies.

Think we all know those threads that are a wall of text get no action.

But what makes others successful?

(we can exclude the sex threads because we all know why they get attention)

Usually popular threads ask your opinoin about something simple, but still has a little controversy.

I don’t know.

Will this thread gain traction?

I don’t know.

What do you think is the secret to popluar threads?

I like positive threads like the one about what 5 things would you improve/want in life.

Absolutely.

I think that’s one of the most likely reasons for popularity.

I like threads with pictures.

It’s an old adage but ‘a picture tells more than a 1000 words’.

Also very true.

I’ve noticed like every time I post a picture, regardless of what it is, gets a good many likes.

Simplicity, curiosity, entertaining, thought provoking and drama lol

I’ve made quite a few dud threads.

The most popular thread I created was asking people how they came up with their username.

So just based on my own personal experience a thread that garners maximum participation is one in which everyone can participate in (having a username we each came up with is something we all have in common) while simultaneously being interesting to everyone that reads it, and encourages others to participate because it’s fun.

This thread wasn’t even that big, but it was my biggest

Unusual Belief threads usually get a lot of traction.
So do sex and penis threads.

Using this information I plan to make a more popular thread than the selfie one or even “say anything”.

Will I use my new powers for good or evil?

It is yet to be seen.
