Lynn Nanos: A Street Social Worker Tells What It's Really Like

This is very sad.

I’m generally optomistic about the future, but this is one area I just don’t know. In 10, 15, 20 years, when there are better meds that can substantially impact long term prognosis, will we (specifically in the US) still not treat people who can’t understand they are ill, and wait for their lives to become a disaster?

I think there will be biomedical tests and that will help, but when we can see today how ill some people are and still don’t help, how much will it help to have that confirmed with a blood test? “Yup, you’re really really ill, now either fill this prescription, or hit the streets.” SMH.
